Last weekend, my brother and I decided to spend two days in the mountains. We did not book a hotel. We stayed in a small bed and breakfast that we found online.
We left home early on Saturday morning. The drive took about two hours. The roads were quiet and the scenery was beautiful. As we got higher, the air became fresh and cool.
The bed and breakfast was run by an elderly couple. They were very welcoming. Our room was simple but comfortable, with a wooden floor and a view of the valley below.
On Saturday afternoon, we went for a long walk. The path was steep in places, but the effort was worth it. From the top of the hill, we could see for miles in every direction. We sat on a rock and ate our sandwiches in silence.
In the evening, the owners cooked a traditional dinner for us. We had thick vegetable soup, roast chicken, and a local cheese. Everything was homemade and delicious.
On Sunday morning, we walked to a small waterfall we had seen on the map. The water was ice cold. My brother put his hand in and pulled it out immediately, laughing.
We drove home on Sunday afternoon, tired but relaxed. It had been exactly the kind of break we needed.
